END OF J-1 PROGRAM NOTIFICATION
J-1 Research Scholar/Professor Out of Country Notification to International Student & Scholar ProgramsTo be completed by the scholar's supervisor: As required by the U.S. Department of State, program sponsors of Exchange Visitor Programs must report when a J-1 Research Scholar or Professor will continue his/her program activities outside the United States for more than 30 days. Please note that in most cases, a J-1 Research Scholar/Professor’s absence of more than 30 days will result in the program ending. From the Research Scholar/Professor’s program end date, s/he may not return to the U.S. as a Research Scholar/Professor for 2 years. In order to return to the U.S., such an Exchange Visitor would have to investigate options of returning in a different immigration status or J-1 category. The following information should be completed, reviewed with the Exchange Visitor, and confirmed before submitting to International Student and Scholar Programs (ISSP). Upon receipt of this notification, ISSP will review the document to determine if it qualifies for an “Out of Country” authorization. ISSP will notify the Exchange Visitor and his/her supervisor of any decision initially via email. While outside the United States, the above named Exchange Visitor is still required to report any new address within 10 days of that change to the office of International Student & Scholar Programs by emailing issp@emory.edu. |
