Emory University’s Department of Athletics, Recreation and Wellness is committed to providing programs and activities that are guided by the goal of protecting the health and safety of all participants. Thank you for doing your part as we work together to keep our Emory community safe. As we activate a recreational reopening pilot for residential students, we commit to be in alignment with the principles of Emory University. Currently, only students residing in on-campus housing can access the Woodruff PE Center for recreational activity only. Guests are not permitted at this time.

The implementation of the following policies will begin immediately and will be revisited for the spring semester.  Please continue to check our website at http://recwell.emory.edu/ regularly as guidelines may change. You can also email recwell@emory.edu with questions!

  • Enhanced cleaning of facility and equipment.

  • A 30-minute closure periods in between reserved time slots for additional cleaning.

  • Initial and ongoing training of staff to safely operate the facilities.

  • Adherence to University guidance on safety measures, including but not limited to self-monitoring health and self-removing from activity and facility usage.

  • Implementation of signage to direct movement throughout our facilities.

  • Limits on facility occupancy to create appropriate physical distancing for people, equipment and workout areas.

  • Face coveringsworn by all facility occupants at all times including the duration of recreational activity.

  • Continuous cleaning of high touch surfaces and restrooms throughout the day.

  • Deep cleaning each evening after facility closure.

  • Adherence to all Emory University rules and regulations. See Community Compact and Emory Forward for further guidance.

  • Registration via IMLeagues is required to enter the Woodruff P.E. Center for recreational activity.

  • Face coverings are required including while participating in physical activity and must cover the nose and mouth.

  • Do not visit the Emory campus if you are displaying any symptoms that are potential flu-like indications such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • Abide by physical distancing guidelines by keeping a 6-foot distance from others at all times unless acute injury, risk mitigation, or safety measures require otherwise

  • No gathering in the facility. Group and buddy workouts are not permitted.

  • Do not attempt to use equipment or space that is non-operational or has a sign communicating nonuse.

  • Thoroughly wipe down equipment after every use with the sanitation supplies and ensure all trash and recycling is discarded in designated waste receptacles.

  • Please be courteous of others and limit your time on equipment.

  • Bring your own water bottle. Only water bottle filling stations will be available. Drinking fountains have been disabled.

  • Shirts must be worn at all times and should cover the entire torso (back, chest, and midriff). Clothing with tears, holes, zippers, buttons, and rivets are not allowed on machines with upholstery.

  • Only clean, closed-toe, closed-heel athletic shoes with non-marking soles are permitted.

  • Failure to follow policies may result in the loss of facility privileges.

    • Monday – Friday 3:30 PM – 9:00 PM by reservation only

    • Saturday: 11:30 PM – 5:00 PM by reservation only

* Students must reserve time to utilize the facility during hours of operation. Sixty (60) minute time slot reservations will be available on IMLeagues with thirty (30) minute facility closure for additional cleaning between reservation times. Specific reservation times may be viewed on IMLeagues.

  • If you arrive within 10 minutes of the start of your reservation, please check in at the central desk on the main walkway in front of Gates 1 & 2. You will then be asked to wait in a designated area until permitted to enter the space.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes prior to the start of your reservation, you will be asked to leave the facility and return closer to the time of your reservation.

  • Please bring your Emory ID as proof of identity which staff will use to check you in for your reservation on IMLeagues.

  • Be prepared to swipe through the entry gates with your Emory ID card when permitted to enter the facility.

Efforts have been made to reduce high touch surfaces or take other recommended items offline. Staff members will not handle patron membership cards or credit cards.  Card readers and countertops on desks will be wiped down and sanitized by the facility staff after each check in.

  • Plexiglass barriers will be installed at each desk and will be wiped down each hour.

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be located at each desk and throughout the building. Patrons will be asked and encouraged to sanitize their hands prior to swiping their card and entering the building as well as while exiting the facility. All gates are touch-free.

  • Bring your own water bottle. Only water bottle filling stations will be available. Drinking fountains have been disabled.

  • Entry and exit doors to the Woodruff P.E. Center are touchless and automatic. Doors leading to indoor activity areas will be open.

  • This can be done by logging in to IMLEAGUES with your Emory NETID and password.

    • The first time that you log into the platform, you will be required to complete some registration information.

  • Once successfully logged in, navigate to the Facility Reservation tab at the top of the page. 

  • Select the date that you would like to make a reservation for or filter by selecting activity type under “All Activity Types.”

  • Upon selecting an activity type and time slot, select “Sign Up” and acknowledge and sign the waiver.

  • Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation email.

  • Time slots Monday - Friday: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., 5:00pm – 6:00p.m., 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., 8 - 9 p.m.

  • Time slots Saturday: 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., 1 - 2 p.m., 2:30 - 3:30 p.m., 4 - 5 p.m.

  • A reservation can be made up to one hour prior to the reservation time slot and up to three days in advance.

    • For example, 5 p.m. time slot on Thursday, reservation opens at 5 p.m. on Monday until 4 p.m. on Thursday.

    • Students will attest at reservation that they will have received a negative COVID-19 test within five days of their time slot reservation.

  • Reservations are limited to once per individual per day up to 3 days/week.

  • Cancellations must be made at least two hours in advance of the reservation time slot. Failure to cancel a reservation may result in loss of facility access.

  • Persons on the waitlist are automatically slotted into a reservation time slot when a reservation is cancelled. If you no longer want that time slot, please remove yourself from the waitlist. Failure to remove yourself from the waitlist may result in loss of facility access.

  • You are only permitted to access the space that you have reserved in IMLeagues.

  • Outdoor Track - Capacity limit of 10

  • Outdoor Tennis Courts - 2 participants per court (singles only play allowed) – no spectators

  • 4thFloor Cardio/ Weight Room - capacity limit of 26 per time slot

  • Indoor Tennis Courts - 2 courts open, 2 participants per court (singles only play allowed) – no spectators

  • 4th Floor Courts - 2 courts open, 2 participants per goal

  • Restrooms available on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th floors

  • Bottle filling stations available on the 1st and 4th floors

4th Floor Fitness Area

  • Open and available for use with capacity limits.
  • Selectorized weight and cardio equipment has been spaced to provide proper physical distancing. Free weights are not available at this time.
  • Floor markings, barriers, and signs have been placed to denote capacity limits and changes to guidelines and procedures.
  • No spotting or working in; finish a set and clean the equipment.
  • No buddy/group workouts.
  • Clean your equipment before and after each use.

Equipment Rental

  • Please bring your own equipment for activities that are permitted (weight belts, towels, tennis racquets, tennis balls, basketball, etc.). Limited equipment may be available for use.
  • Do not share equipment.

4TH Floor Basketball Courts

  • Please bring your own basketball. Limited equipment will be available for checkout.
  • Courts will be open at a reduced capacity. Two persons per basketball goal.
  • Individual skill work only. No sharing of equipment.

Outdoor Track

  • Please maintain physical distance while using the track. 

Indoor Tennis Courts

  • Court Reservations are required for entry through IMLeagues.
  • Singles play ONLY. No doubles play or spectators allowed.
  • Each court reservation is for a maximum of 60 minutes.

Outdoor Tennis Courts

  • The tennis courts will be open during operation hours.
  • Court Reservations are required for entry.
    • 1 reservation per day, per person.
    • Singles play only.
    • Each court reservation is for a maximum of 60 minutes. 

Kaminsky Park

  • Face coverings that cover the nose and mouth must be worn at all times.
  • Minimum of 6 feet physical distance must be maintained.
  • The field will close each day at dusk. 

Elevator

  • Available for use with a capacity of two people. 

Locker Rooms

  • Locker rooms are closed – limited storage options will be available on the 4th
  • Bags are not permitted on the fitness floor. 

Fitness & Wellness

  • Virtual Group Fitness classes will be available and students can register on IMLeagues.
  • All Group Fitness classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Capacity may be limited in some classes.
  • Inappropriate behavior in a virtual environment will loss of recreational program and facility privileges.
  • Group fitness instructors reserve the right to ask a participant to leave at any time.

Intramural & Club Sports

  • Virtual Intramural tournament and leagues are being offered on IMleagues.

Outdoor Recreation

  • Virtual outdoor recreation clinics and special events are being offered and students can register on IMLeauges.
  • Equipment rental is not available at this time.

Personal Training and/or Small Group Training

  • Personal trainers are available for virtual consultations and training.

Yes. Residential students may reserve time up to 3 days in advance and no later than 1 hour prior to the reservation time.

Enhanced cleaning procedures are in place for high-touch surfaces and restrooms. 30-minute closure periods between reservation times will allow for detailed cleaning in addition to deep cleaning overnight. Cleaning supplies are located near each piece of equipment and patrons should thoroughly wipe down equipment for use.

The WoodPEC 4th floor fitness area, basketball courts, outdoor track, and indoor and outdoor tennis courts are reopening during this pilot phase. Kaminsky Field and the Clairmont recreation field remain open for use. Additional areas are being considered for future phases.

To ensure a safe experience, due to limited facility and equipment capacity, only residential students will be able access the WoodPEC for recreational use during the pilot phase.

Bring your EmoryCard and your own water bottle. Students must have their EmoryCard to access the facility.

No. Restrooms are open, however, the locker rooms and showers remain closed. Please come dressed to workout.
